Creating beautiful things using files, flames and a furnace.
My aim is to produce distinctly different jewellery inspired by science and nature. With my background in environmental studies, I'm drawn to the natural world but I love abstracting shapes and elements from this for my designs, particularly bold shapes and contrasting textures.
I was always interested in art and design but my education was more scientific. In my previous job, I used tools a lot and I’ve always been a practical person. When I discovered silversmithing and jewellery, which combined my desire to design with getting messy with metal, I was hooked. My jewellery and silversmithing training was mostly in London and I was amazed to win an award from The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths for my final year design.
I dreamed of having a studio space under the arches on Brighton seafront, making jewellery and watching the waves. I now have that studio space in Brighton and I love it (although I can’t see the sea!).
