Next Saturday, 5th December, is Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
- 16.5 million People shopped in a small independent business on the day, representing a 20% increase in footfall on 2013 or 2.7 million more shoppers
- 64% of UK consumers were aware of the day, a 33% increase on 2013
- Over 3.5 million Facebook views and #SmallBizSatUK trending at number one all day on 6th December 2014
- 55% of Local Authorities and hundreds of MPs supported the campaign
Here at The Great British Exchange we aim to support independent retailers and people who create British made products. We have a brand new showroom full of fantastic samples from a range of our British producers. The showroom has been curated into our eight categories, Fashion, Homeware, Gift, Jewellery, Outdoor, Art & Craft, Food & Drink and Baby & Child. So independent retailers, looking for something different to entice their customers with, can visit us any time and come and see a permanent exhibition of British made products available for wholesale.
British producers are always welcome to open an account with us, it’s free to join and we welcome as many products as they have to offer.
We know how important it is for independent retailers to be able to offer their customers an ‘experience’ when they visit their stores and we aim to support that ‘experience’ by providing a range of exciting British made products.
If you have something planned for Small Business Saturday we’d love to hear from you – maybe as a retailer you’re launching a new window display or as a producer you’re having an open day at your studio. Whatever it may be we wish all the businesses taking part a great day.
